  • Laughing: It's healthy!

"Children laugh or smile 400 times a day but that figure drops to an average of only 15 laughs a day by the time people reach age 35. A good belly laugh will lower the blood pressure below normal resting rates for 45 minutes and laughing exercises the lungs, increases oxygen in the blood stream and stimulates production of endorphins, the brain's built-in painkiller. Laughter and humor play a critical role in fostering physiological and psychological health and wellness, confirming why incorporating positive humor in any environment makes so much sense. Having a sense of humor has more to do with being able to see that there are funny situations all around us and with feeling secure enough to laugh at them than it does with entertaining others."  - Dr. Stu Robertshaw

Have a great day, and laugh a little!

  • As mentioned on several other Verity xanga sites, the wedding in South Carolina this weekend was beautiful. I had a wonderful time catching up on the lives of good friends and hanging out at the Waffle House and Denny's till all hours of the morning, but more importantly it was amazing to witness God's hands moving in the lives of such incredible people.    Congratulations Julia and Garret Brink!

And thank you all for making it such a great weekend. May God bless you!

    Smile!

  • Politicians with weapons...

So yesterday was basically one of the best days at work. The Michigan State Police invited the Legislature and their staff to their training post to show us all the cool things that they like to call "equipment."  We began the training by learning how fast police cars can go (70 mph around curves) and doing some major spin outs on a nine acre field of asphalt covered in rain, snow and ice. Next we had a little fun playing video games (simulator) of real situations that could be life threatening such armed robberies, kidnapping, etc. We learned how to be observant for the 'bad guys' and creatively finish the job. The big finale was when they placed in our hands a 9mil handgun, 12 gauge shotgun and an M-4 rifle (which is the weapon they are currently using in Iraq) and we fired rounds for about 45 minutes.

You think politicians in session are scarry? Try putting a gun in their hands...now I know why they want to enforce 'gun-control!'
